I am a candle flame…

We have been learning all about the different types of words – particularly nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs! Yesterday we looked at a candle flame and thought of different ways to describe it, what it was doing and how.

We sorted the different words into a table, with the nouns in one column, the verbs in another, and so on.

Then it was time to write our poems about the candle flame. We worked with our partner and used the words we had sorted to describe the flame:

I am a candle flame,

A soft glow, flickering slowly,

A warm light, dancing happily,

A small flame, burning brightly…

And so on! Can you think of any more ways to describe a candle flame? Why not use this video to help you: Candle video

Next week we are going to be writing descriptions of fireworks, so while you are celebrating bonfire night have a little think about the verbs, adjectives, and adverbs you could use.

Have a super weekend,

Miss Hewitt.
