Today we braved the cold for our special Christmas session of forest school. We were learning all about how to use wool and sticks to create a Christmas star decoration!
First we had to find a long stick that wasn’t too thick or too thin! It was cut into two shorter pieces and one longer one.
Then Jason showed us how to wrap our wool around them to create a star shape. We first put them into the shape of a cross and wrapped them around until they were secure. Then we added in the longer stick to create the star shape.
Once we had secured all the sticks, we could cover them in the wool. We wrapped it up and down the branches so they were covered. If we ran out of string we could just trap the end by the stick when we started wrapping our new piece around. Finally, we created a loop at the end so it could be hung.
They looked great, and hopefully those of you who didn’t get to finish can do so at home!
