In Science last week we learned all about hygiene and found out why it is so important to keep our hands clean.
To begin with we carried out a hand washing experiment. We had to predict which method of hand washing would be the best at removing glitter from our hands. We chose from: cleaning our hands with a dry paper towel, cleaning our hands with a wet paper towel, washing our hands quickly with water or using soap and water to wash our hands thoroughly. Was your prediction correct?
We found out that washing our hands with soap and water is the best way to remove dirt and germs (and glitter!) from our hands.
Next, we recorded a video to show younger children how to wash their hands properly. Can you remember what the steps were? Can you remember the song that we had to sing?
Finally, we set up an experiment ready for next week. We want to find out if touching a slice of bread with clean hands, dirty hands or gloves affects how quickly bread becomes mouldy. The results will be posted here as soon as we know!
