Exploring 2D shapes!

Today we were looking at the properties of 2D shapes. We already knew the names of most of the different shapes, so first we had a quick quiz to see what we could remember. We learned all about pentagons, hexagons, semi-circles, and octagons, as well as the squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles that we already knew about!

Then, we used straws and blu-tack to create the shapes, to investigate how many sides and corners each one had. It was a bit tricky to get them to stick together properly, but we managed in the end!

Finally, we created a poster all about the properties of the 2D shapes to remind us for when we compare them tomorrow.
