City, town, village

In geography we have been learning about different types of settlement and their features. Yesterday we talked about the sizes of towns, villages and cities and we thought about what facilities they might have. We talked about how the population of cities would be bigger, and therefore that they would have more amenities.

We sorted the features we would find in each place, and speech bubbles about living in different places into ‘city’, ‘town’ and ‘village’ categories. Then we explained why we had made those choice.

Have you ever been to a village? Where was it? What was it like?

Where do you think your nearest town is?

Where do you think your nearest city is?

Why not have a look around Birmingham or Stourbridge on Google Earth? Can you find anything interesting?
